How Much Does Bed Bug Treatment Cost in SW Florida?

5 min readBy SW Florida Pest Authority

Bed bug treatment from SW Florida Pest Authority starts at $299 for a single room. Treating a whole home starts at $699.

Finding bed bugs is stressful. Knowing what the fix costs should not be. Here is how our pricing works.

What this guide covers:

  • What one room and a whole home cost
  • What changes your price
  • Why the job takes more than one visit
  • How our prices compare to national averages
  • How bed bug pricing compares to a regular pest visit
  • Simple ways to keep your cost down

Bed Bug Treatment Cost at a Glance

Size of the jobPrice
Single roomFrom $299
Whole homeFrom $699

The 14-day follow-up visit is part of every job. It is not an add-on you pay extra for. If the job needs a third visit, Jason does that one at no extra cost too.

What Changes the Price

The number of rooms that need treatment sets your price. The size of your home does not, as long as it is 3,000 square feet or less. Above that, Jason quotes the job separately.

Bed bugs like to stay close to the people they feed on, so they start near the bed. As their numbers grow, they move into nearby rooms, onto the living room couch and into clothes kept near the bed.

That is why waiting costs you. Every week brings more eggs and more hiding spots. A problem caught early in one bedroom is a smaller job than one that has reached the rest of the house.

Why Bed Bug Treatment Takes More Than One Visit

National cost guides say most infestations need two to four treatments over three to six weeks before every life stage is gone. That line comes from the HomeAdvisor bed bug cost guide.

Here is the reason. No residual product (the kind that keeps working after it dries) kills bed bug eggs. The 14-day follow-up visit is there to catch those new bugs before they can breed.

If Jason finds live bugs at the follow-up, he treats again at no charge. That is why the follow-up is built into the price instead of sold as an extra visit.

Jason uses a chemical treatment, not heat. He works it into the places bed bugs hide: mattress seams, box springs, headboards, baseboards and furniture seams. You can read the full step by step on our bed bug treatment page.

When Tent Fumigation Is the Better Call

A chemical treatment is not right for every home. If the infestation is heavy, Jason will say so at the inspection and recommend tent fumigation instead. That is a bigger job at a different price, and it is work for a licensed fumigation company rather than for us.

Expect to pay a lot more for it. This Old House puts fumigation at $2,000 and up. We would rather tell you that at the inspection than take your money for a treatment that will not hold.

How Our Prices Compare to National Averages

Two national cost guides track what bed bug treatment costs across the United States. Here is what they report, next to our prices. Their numbers are national averages, not Southwest Florida prices.

JobOur priceHomeAdvisor (national)This Old House (national)
One roomFrom $299$300 to $650$150 to $400 per room (insecticide treatment)
Whole homeFrom $699$1,500 to $6,200$1,500 to $5,000

HomeAdvisor gives a typical range of $1,000 to $4,000 for the whole job, with an average of $2,500. This Old House lists a follow-up inspection at $100 to $150 per visit.

You can read both guides here: the HomeAdvisor bed bug cost guide and the This Old House bed bug cost guide. Prices vary by company, home and method, so your real number from us comes after Jason inspects your home.

How This Compares to a Regular Pest Visit

Bed bug work costs more than our regular pest control. A one-time visit for pests like ants and roaches starts at $130, with a 30-day guarantee. Our quarterly plan starts at $75 per visit.

The difference is the work. Bed bug treatment is slow, careful work at every hiding spot, plus at least one return visit. All of our current rates are on our pricing page.

Simple Ways to Keep Your Cost Down

  • Call early. One room costs less to treat than a whole home.
  • Do the prep. Wash your bedding on high heat, clear the clutter off the floor and make room around the furniture, so every hiding spot can be reached on the first visit.
  • Skip store sprays and foggers. Bed bugs hide deep in cracks those sprays cannot reach. You spend the money and the bugs stay.
  • Count the follow-up. Every job here includes the 14-day visit, and a third one if the job needs it. A lower price with no return visit is not the cheaper option.
